Our initial full time RV setup consists of a diesel powered 2020 Ford F-350 dually which tows our 2018 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS fifth wheel. We’ve done a few upgrades to both the truck and RV to make them more usable for our needs and safer on the road.
Major upgrades to our Reflection include disc brakes for significantly improved stopping power and a Morryde Rubber Pin Box for smoother towing comfort. We also upgraded to G-rated Sailun tires for their higher load capacity and changing out the suspension to the Morryde CRE-3000 and the heavy duty shackle kit with wet bolt system along with a Morryde X-Factor Crossmember for additional lateral support between the suspension hangers (especially useful when maneuvering into tight camp spots).
To the truck we’ve added the TST-507 TPMS for keeping an eye on the RV tires and Rock Tamers mud flaps to keep road crud from getting all over the lower front of our RV. In the cab we’ve added a Thinkware Q800Pro dash cam for recording any events that might happen and various other small creature comforts for both ourselves and our 3 dogs who take up the second row seating.
For navigation we use a combination of tools such as Apple Maps, Google Maps and RV Trip Wizard, however our main navigation tool is our Garmin RV890 GPS. This GPS works really well in our experience.
