We’re staying two weeks in Lajitas, TX at Maverick Ranch RV Park . The park we’re at is nice, although a little far from Big Bend National Park . It is part of a much larger golf resort, and I can absolutely see coming here to golf. The scenery is incredible! We walked over to the main resort shopping and pro shop and caught a glimpse of the course. It was surprisingly green!

They dont’ look anything like the cartoon, that’s for sure! This little guy was VERY curious about us, coming within mere inches of our feet! Looks like Steve might need to work on his roadrunner beeps, though.

We had just a quick overnight in Fort Stockton, where we met Paisano Pete , the Fort Stockton Road Runner and second largest Road Runner in the world! We arrived after hours, but took a walk around the Chamber of Commerce building across the street from Pete. It has an incredible display behind it about the history of the area.

This Stonehenge was the culmination of a joke between two friends in the 80’s and was donated to the Hill Country Arts Foundation in the 90’s after the owner passed away. Also donated was a 13-foot replica of a Moai from Easter Island.

During our time in Kerrville, we stayed in Old River Road RV Resort . It had an amazing dog park! Coco and Marley were able to play in one of two big yards one afternoon. Coco and Tucker also made some new friends one morning during our stay. We love when parks have nicely kept dog parks (and responsible pet owners!).

We spent a long afternoon visiting the Lyndon B Johnson State and National parks in Johnson City, TX. Much of the Ranch was shut down for renovations, but we were able to learn the history of President Johnson’s family farm and take in some of the sights. I’m sure this place is just gorgeous in spring!

Have you ever been to Toonstone, TX ? It’s a real place!!!

We spent a little time exploring this roadside attraction. We even wrote our names on the walls (it’s encouraged!).

Our first stop of the year is in Kerrville, Texas. Kerrville is in the heart of Texas Hill Country and was where jewelry maker James Avery first began creating jewelry. We really enjoyed seeing the public art here and in the surrounding cities of Johnson City, Boerne, and Comfort.
