During our winter stay we drove over to the Progreso International Bridge and went into Mexico. Did you know there are something like 100 dentists within a 3 block radius of this bridge?

Visiting the Palo Alto Battlefield was a very interesting stop on our tour of National Parks this year. The battle at Palo Alto took place in May 1846, early on in the two year war between the US and Mexico over land in the territory of Texas (western portion of Texas today and parts of OK and NM).

The Baked Bear was a new one for us we’d never heard of before! We can’t say enough about how awesome The Baked Bear on South Padre Island was! There are locations in several states. Make sure to ask for your cookies to be warmed!

We were humbled to take part in the local Wreaths Across America event in Brownsville this year. Over 400 wreaths were laid on veteran graves in this beautiful historic cemetery. What an incredible way to remember and honor those who served our country. Thanks to our friends at @Rolling Bayou for inviting us to such an incredible event.

We love having fires with friends! We did not have too many fires this winter due to the constant winds in Brownsville, but the few we did have were full of stories and laughs. Marley was able to join us as well and even has his own chair!

Some campgrounds have lots of activities during the winter. While ours did have a few in December it was much more active in January as the Winter Texans began arriving after the holidays. The clubhouse had lots of puzzles so we made our own fun when something wasn’t planned! That yarn puzzle was DIFFICULT!

Talk about creative! Pecos, TX has a Boot Trail! We see neat stuff like this all the time as we’re passing through an area. This is a short afternoon activity we’ll add to the list for the next time we’re in western Texas.

Who doesn’t love ice cream?! We found this great place @rollingwithhne that serves ROLLED ice cream! Have you had rolled ice cream before? The process is super neat to watch. They start with CREAM and other ingredients and pour it onto a really cold slab

We ventured over to South Padre Island, and stumbled upon the Holiday Sandcastle Village of South Padre Island . It was all dolled up for Christmas alongside some longer term sand art, such as the amazing Taylor Swift mermaid. If you’re in this area, we highly recommend checking out this rotating gallery of sand sculptures!
