The sunsets in Rockport are amazing

The sunsets in Rockport are amazing! Taken on two different days, we were astonished by the colors in the sky (and how different they were from each other!). One was a moody deep pastel color palette and the other was bright yellows and oranges with a light pastel palette after the sun set. Each was gorgeous!
From Brenham to Rockport

After we left Brenham we headed to Rockport for a week. We stayed at the KOA which was recently rebuilt. Everything had been recently updated after hurricane Harvey left the area devastated in 2017. The showers and laundry were well maintained and the facility is gated. While we didn’t use the pool or the clubhouse, they did have a couple activities scheduled the week we were there and many people did participate.
Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, TX

Our friends told us about the Blue Bell Creameries being in Brenham, TX. Since we were there right before Thanksgiving the factory observation deck was closed but we took a self-guided tour of their museum and grounds. We also stopped in their ice cream shop for a $1 cup of deliciousness!
Here is where 2024 took us

Not the exact route we took, but here’s where 2024 took us! Lots of back and forth between Indiana and Florida. What an adventure!
The murals of Brenham, TX

The murals of Brenham, TX did not disappoint! What beautiful work by artists near and far.
Kate’s two favorites were the black and white of Blind Willy Johnson by Levi Ponce
(with Rey Sepulveda, Nick Hernandez, Jose Ramirez, and Brad Stufflebeam) and the very colorful cowgirl and horse by Toni Ardizzone
.
Downtown Brenham, TX has some really neat things to visit

Downtown Brenham, TX has some really neat things to visit! The historic fire house was closed the day we explored the town, but this is on our list to come back to see! Also as we walked, we saw the beautiful Art Deco courthouse and Puddins Pole. It’s not every day you come across a pole with a name…

We’re wintering in Texas this year, y’all! The drive from Glen St. Mary, Florida to Texas was a long but uneventful 3 days. Along the way, we stayed in a few really neat Harvest Host locations!
